Sportfishing charters in Golfo Dulce, Golfito, and Zancudo

Inshore water that stays fishable when the Pacific does not

Golfo Dulce is a deep tropical fjord, one of only a handful on earth, and its sheltered water means fishable days when the open Pacific is rough. Roosterfish along the shoreline, cubera snapper in the rocks, and a short run to blue water off Matapalo and Zancudo for sailfish and tuna.

We track 10 operations across Golfito, Zancudo, and the Fish Hook Marina area. This is the least crowded fishery on the list and the one that surprises people most.

Before you book, one honest note. Prices, departure times, and what is included move with the season here. Boats come out of the water for maintenance and operators adjust rates without telling anyone first. The details on this page are what we last confirmed with the operator, and we go back and check them, but your booking is with them and their confirmation is the final word. If a detail matters to your trip, ask us before you book and we will confirm it directly rather than guess.

Common questions

How do you get to Golfito?

A short domestic flight from San José, or roughly six hours by road from Manuel Antonio. Most anglers fly and it is worth it.

What makes Golfo Dulce different?

Shelter. It is a fjord, so it fishes when the open coast is blown out. It also has genuine world-class roosterfish along the beaches, which is a species people travel specifically for.

Is it worth the trip from Manuel Antonio?

For a dedicated fishing trip, yes. For a single day inside a wider Costa Rica itinerary, fish Quepos instead and save the travel.
