Supervision and certificates

Kosher Market shared this kashrut certificate from the Centro Israelita Sionista de Costa Rica, signed by Rabbi Itzhak Prober, Chief Rabbi of the Orthodox Costa Rican community. It certifies The Kosher Center in Pavas, San José: all meat and meat products are glatt kosher, all breads are pat Yisrael, and pastries are parve, baked in a separate parve kitchen.

It is valid until December 3, 2026 and renewed each year. We're confirming with Kosher Market which of their products come under it, and we'll send the renewed certificate before your stay.

Some of their dairy is chalav Yisrael (Matoki yogurt, milk and cheeses, certified by the Orthodox Rabbinate of Costa Rica). It's in the photos above.

If you keep a particular standard, tell us and we'll ask the kitchen product by product. Your own rabbi has the final word.

Your villa kitchen

  • Rental kitchens are not kosher. Many families eat Kosher Market's ready-to-serve meals as delivered, on disposable plates and cutlery.
  • If you plan to cook, bring your own pots and utensils or buy new ones here, and ask your rabbi how to handle the villa's oven and stove.
  • Order Shabbat meals early, especially for Fridays and holidays, so the delivery arrives before Shabbat.
  • Tell us what your villa's kitchen has and we'll check with the house manager before you arrive.
