The famous Arenal hot springs are built for adults: deep, very hot pools, a quiet bar, and rules that ask for supervision at every step. With toddlers or young kids, a different kind of springs makes for a better afternoon, with water slides, a shallow splash zone, and pools cool enough to stay in.
The springs we suggest first for families cost a fraction of the resort passes, take kids under four free, and run a splash zone with cooler pools and slides from 9 am to 9 pm. They also take groups of fifteen and more with meals arranged ahead, which is rare in town.
For couples or older kids who want quiet instead of slides, there is a reservation-only springs with day and evening sessions that keeps numbers down. Tell us the ages in your group and we match the springs to them.
What to bring. Swimsuits, water shoes, towels, a change of clothes, and swim diapers for babies.
Before you book, one honest note. These prices are each operator's own published rates, which we last checked in October 2026, and they move with the season. We book this with a local operator we trust, and their confirmation is the final word on price, timing, pickup, and what you get. If a detail matters to your trip, whether that is a dietary need, a mobility question, a birthday, or a tight flight, ask us before you book and we will confirm it with them directly rather than guess.
