Local flavor cooking experience in Manuel Antonio

You pick the cilantro, you press the tortillas, you eat the results

This is a cooking class where the ingredients come out of the ground in front of you. The day starts with a quick stop at the Quepos farmers market to see where locals actually buy their produce, then continues to Finca Tucanes, a family farm in Londres. There you walk the organic garden and pick what your lunch needs: cilantro, green onion, tomatoes, whatever is ready that week.

At the outdoor kitchen, local cooks put you to work. Expect to press corn tortillas by hand, build a ceviche with plantain or banana, and help with a tomato-based chicken dish, with the exact menu shifting to match what is in season. Vegetarian options are available if you mention it when booking. Then you sit down and eat the meal you made.

Afterward there is time to wander the farm, say hello to the goats, turkeys, ducks, geese, cows, and peacocks, and, weather permitting, cool off in the Naranjo River nearby. Classes run at 8:00 am and 2:00 pm, the difficulty is easy, and kids are welcome from age four up. It pairs naturally with the chocolate, vanilla, and coffee tour on the same property.

Before you book, one honest note. Prices, departure times, and what is included move with the season here. Rivers rise and drop, tides reset the schedule, boats come out of the water for maintenance, and operators adjust rates without telling anyone first. The details on this page are what we last confirmed directly with the operator, and we go back and check them, but your booking is with the operator and their confirmation is the final word on price, timing, pickup, and what you get. If a detail matters to your trip, whether that is a dietary need, a mobility question, a birthday, or a tight flight, ask us before you book and we will confirm it with them directly rather than guess.
