Three bedrooms and three bathrooms for up to six guests, at the top of a hill inside a gated community above Quepos, with security around the clock. Forest closes in on every side of the house, and Quepos, Marina Pez Vela, and Manuel Antonio National Park are a short drive down the hill.
The house is on two floors. The living room has a double-height ceiling, sofas, and a TV, and opens into the dining area and a large kitchen with granite counters, a glass-top range, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a big refrigerator. Air conditioning covers the bedrooms and the living room, and there is a washer and dryer. Two bedrooms are upstairs, each with its own bathroom, and one of them opens onto a covered balcony with rocking chairs over the trees. The third bedroom is downstairs, with a bathroom just outside its door. One of the bedrooms has a desk for remote work.
Behind the house, the private pool sits on a tiled terrace under a bamboo pergola strung with lights, with a dining table, sun loungers, and a barbecue grill. Guests write about capuchin and howler monkeys, coatis, agoutis, scarlet macaws, and even a sloth seen from the house and the pool. The community has hiking trails and its own spa for a massage after a day out. Nearly all of the 40 guest reviews we found for this house give it five stars.
We list this house as MA-80. Tell us your dates and group size and we confirm availability and the exact total with the manager, then sort out the rest: transfers, a private chef, and a guide for the national park.
One bedroom is on the ground floor with a bathroom with a shower beside it, on the same level as the living room, the kitchen, and the pool terrace. A guest who uses a wheelchair wrote that this made the house work for him. The other two bedrooms are up a flight of stairs with a handrail.
The harder part is getting to the door. The house sits at the top of a very steep driveway with a sharp turn, and the manager recommends a four-wheel drive. Guests agree: moss and rain make it slippery, one group's van could not get all the way up in the rain, and walking down it takes care. One guest did make it up in a regular car. If you are not renting a 4x4, we can arrange transfers, and guests say local taxis handle the hill. The community's entrance is easy to miss, so arrive in daylight the first time. If anyone in your group has limited mobility, ask us and we will confirm the details with the manager before you book.
Rates for this house are quoted on request. They move with the dates and the season, Costa Rica's 13 percent tax and a service fee are added on top, and the minimum stay is three nights most of the year, longer over some holidays. [The house] is absolutely beautiful with stunning views. We saw monkeys, iguanas, lizards and birds from the house and had a coati come right up to us at the side of the pool. Julio was an excellent host. We had a very small issue (replacement batteries required for the AC) which Julio sorted out immediately. The only down side is the very steep hill up to the house which was slippy when wet. All in all we loved it here and didn’t want to leave.
Loved [the house]! First- the driveway: it is a pain so make sure you have a 4x4 as listed in the description or make sure your trunk isn’t weighed down too much. Julio was amazing and communicated very well! Jodie was also amazing and we are very thankful for him. The pool is smaller but perfect for relaxing! Sun hits it perfectly from 10:30-2:30. The two upstairs bedrooms have private bathrooms and there is a bathroom right outside of the downstairs bedroom. Lots of privacy. The kitchen is equipped with lots of utensils and we highly recommend chef Vicki to come cook for you! Pura Vida!
We loved the close proximity to downtown Quepos & Marina Pez Vela. Great place to stay for exploring Manuel Antonio, Quepos, Domincal, etc. Howler & Capuchin monkeys along with Scarlett McCaws were regular visitors in the area and the lush green surroundings were just what we needed for a winter vacation from the cold. The home was very well stocked with appliances, towels, toiletries & the pool was perfect for the warm afternoons. The steep driveway was fine as long as you have a 4x4 or for local taxi drivers.
Wow, this is an incredible house and my family absolutely loved our stay. From the moment we entered it felt like home. It is beautifully decorated, has comfortable furniture, lots of space and my two kids enjoyed their own bedrooms and bathrooms. We loved the AC (in the living room and all bedrooms, huge kitchen, pool deck and loungers and comfy living room with TV. The hosts were friendly and left us a fruit basket. Thank you for the amazing stay!
We stayed for a week at this beautiful [house] March 17 - 22. It is exactly as described. As I'm in a wheelchair, it is so very nice to find a home that has a bedroom and bathroom with shower on the first floor. This was our fourth or fifth time staying in [this community], and we are always so pleased with our stays. The front desk has always helped us immediately (and graciously!), the grounds are immaculately groomed for both beauty and privacy. The house is in a good location, and we were lucky to see many monkeys, especially at dusk. Capuchins! We also saw 2 agoutis, a coatimundi, and many macaws, plus a huge variety of butterflies including the blue morhpho. It was delightful seeing all this wildlife while watching from the house itself! We also were provided upon request with a driver both ways, which made transportation a breeze for us. Our drivers were helpful and informative. No worries here! Whatever you need with amenities, custom care, good recommendations and an excellent location, [This community] is our favorite place to stay in this area - see ya next year and thank you! For the unsure or unwary, there are many very small ants that bite, and the mosquitoes were a tough opponent - insect repellent definitely worth it...especially for long periods of monkey-watching! It is only to be expected in this beautiful jungle jewel...
[The house] was the perfect get away for my family and one year old son. The place was quietly nestled in the rainforest, lots of birds and monkies. We loved the spa, everyone was friendly and informative. The neighborhood was very nice. Close to all that Quepos and Manuel Antonio has to offer, the perfect location and very safe !
The gated community and the hills around it above Quepos, rainforest on every side. Five minutes down to the marina, about fifteen to the park.
